MICROBLADING NANO BROWS

One question that often comes up during a consultation is "What is the difference between machine brows and microblading"? The key difference between machine brows and microblading is the tool used to implant pigment: microblading uses a handheld blade which is pulled through the skin to manually create hair like strokes, while machine brows use a small cosmetic tattoo machine with a single fine needle to deposit pigment.

I offer machine brows rather than microblading as they generally last longer and may require less frequent touch ups, this is particularly the case for oily skin types.

NANO BROWS BY MACHINE

Nano brows often referred to as hyper realism or hairstroke brows mimic eyebrow hair, nano is a term for the size of needles used during the treatment, this means we can achieve the crisp, ultra fine lines in the brow which mimics real hairs.

Nano strokes which mimic eyebrow hairs are created for a realistic finish, they are a great solution when the client requires additional hair strokes on fine or sparse brows or for those without eyebrow hair due to alopecia or pre/post cancer treatment for example. In addition you could always opt for a combination brow where the fronts of the eyebrows are 'fluffy' and the remainder has the added structure and shading that you get from the ombre/powder look.

Permanent makeup can create fuller, more defined eyebrows by filling in sparse areas, correcting asymmetry, or giving a well-shaped arch. A natural look.

Techniques can also mimic natural hair providing a more realistic look for those who usually wear minimal makeup.

Machine nano brows have many benefits, including less trauma to the skin, better pigment retention, and longer-lasting results.

Benefits

  • Less trauma: The procedure is gentler on the skin, with less bleeding and redness than microblading

  • Better pigment retention: The technique produces less lymph fluid, which dilutes pigment

  • Longer-lasting results: The brows can last up to three years, though they may need to be refreshed every 1–2 years

  • Precision: The ultra-fine needles allow for more customization and natural-looking hair strokes

  • Skin types: The procedure works on most skin types, including sensitive skin

  • Pain: The procedure is nearly painless and often doesn't require numbing cream

  • Healing: The healing process is smoother and there's less scabbing and flaking

COMBINATION BROWS NANO WITH POWDER SHADING

A "combination eyebrow" technique, which blends nano hair strokes with shading, is often a good option to cover up old microblading (see third photo), ombre or powder brows work well too..

Key points about covering old microblading with combination brows:

  • Best for faded or lightly coloured microblading:

If the old microblading is very dark or heavily saturated, laser or saline removal might be necessary before attempting a cover-up.

  • Experienced artist required:

A skilled permanent makeup artist is crucial to properly assess the existing pigment and choose the right colour and shading technique to blend seamlessly with the old microblading.

  • Consultation is essential:

You can send photos of your existing eyebrows to the artist before a consultation to determine if a cover-up is feasible.
